1986 Porsche 959 Prototype

A Rare Factory Prototype

Chassis Number: WPOZZZ93ZFS010065

Model History

The Porsche 959 was manufactured by Porsche from 1986 to 1993, first as a Group B rally car and later as a legal production car designed to satisfy FIA homologation regulations requiring at least 200 street legal units to be built.

When it was introduced, the twin-turbocharged 959 was the world’s fastest street-legal production car, boasting a top speed of 315 km/h.

During its production run it was hailed as the most technologically advanced road-going sports car ever built, and forerunner of all future super cars.

It was one of the high-performance vehicleswith all-wheel drive, providing the basis for Porsche’s first all-wheel drive Carrera 4 model.

Its performance convinced Porsche executives to make all-wheel drive standard on all 911 Turbos starting with the 993.

In 2004, Sports Car International was named the 959 number one on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 1980’s.

Specific history of this car:

Chassis 065 was first registered as a prototype by Porsche AG for Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Piech in March 1986. It was primarily used as a test car and later as the private car of Prof. Piech, still carrying the early 930-chassis number.

After just one year the car was sold in 1987 to Hasi Unterberger in Austria with a mileage of 59,100 kms.

Unterberger was a famous chef and a close friend of Prof. Piech.

With a total mileage of 60,634 kms the car was sold in June 1992 to the famous automotive photographer ReneStaud, who bought the car for 900,000 DM. He commissioned a full service and had the cloth seats changed for leather seats by Porsche.

With a mileage of 66,000 km the car was sold via auto Becker in 1999 and was then sold on to the last owner in 2014.

This is a very rareopportunity to purchase a real Porsche 959 prototype with the ultra-rare 930-chassis number, that comes with very good documentation.

The car has a complete Porsche service and is ready to be cherished by its next owner.
